Alice in Wonderland

Illustrating an essential scene from the Alice in Wonderland story, the scene in which Alice meets The Queen of Hearts

Context:

Alice in Wonderland is a magical story with lots of interesting and dynamic scenes to illustrate. For this exercise, I picked a scene that takes place in the Queen’s garden. A documentation regarding the elements from the scene was also necessary. I took inspiration from childhood photos, vintage clothing and furniture from the Victorian age and animal anatomy. The Queen of Hearts portrait is also inspired by a portrait of Queen Victoria of England.

This assignment was part of my illustration courses from the second year at The National University of Arts.

Technique:

Watercolor on 100% cotton paper.
