The founder effect

“The Founder Effect” is a memoir-illustration project created in collaboration with scientist and writer Sherry Yi Zhang. Through seven spreads, the illustrations evoke key emotional moments from her journey—from childhood in China to becoming a founder in America. Combining monochrome ink with subtle color overlays, the visuals explore identity, memory, resilience, and legacy across cultures and generations.
